Camp It Up! Director´s Report - January 24, 2008
Dear campers and friends,
I hope the New Year has gotten off to a great start for you and your family and that you’re reserving August 3-10 to attend camp this summer.
We are in high gear planning for our 2008 camp program. Our thematic program will be centered around an Olympiad — Camp It Up! style.
Get ready to
Gopher, the Gold: Camp It Up! 2008
A summer of Olympic proportions
All kinds of contests will be planned: from a real mini-triathlon to corn-shucking, cabin decoration, wild and crazy relay races and eating contests. Kids will find out how long it
takes to put twenty clothing items on their counselor, create gopher pictures and sculptures, go on scavenger hunts and make beach volcanoes. Brush up on your polka for the polka
contest at our first dance. Of course, this is just a taste of the general silliness that you’ll find at camp this summer.
And here’s the clincher: we don’t want to emphasize that what matters is to always come in first and so, for some events, the team or person that comes in third will win;
in other events, whoever finishes last will be crowned champ; and so on. And yes, sometimes coming in first will get the prize.
We’ll be sending you more information as we get closer to camp about what to bring and more program details including costume suggestions for the dances.
What I can tell you now is that if you have a gopher costume (and don’t we all have one of these hanging in our closets?), please bring it!
More practical business: register as early as you can to reserve a space for the dates that you want to attend. We were full last year and don’t want to turn anyone away.
I always want to hear from you with ideas and feedback so please feel free to e-mail me with any and all suggestions and questions.
Take care. I look forward to bringing us all together in August for our 19th year of Camp It Up!
